AR Rahman has done it again! The Mozart of Madras, who won the prestigious Oscar last year, has now bagged two Grammy Awards for his winning anthem ‘Jai Ho’ in Danny Boyle’s rags to riches flick ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.

The taskmaster won the awards at the glittering 52nd Annual awards ceremony in Los Angeles for Best Compilation Soundtrack for a motion picture and the Best Motion Picture Song. Elated yet modest, Rahman said, “This is insane, god is great again”.

What’s makes this honour even more special is the fact that this was the first time that the gifted musician was nominated for a Grammy. And the singer has walked away with not one but 2 trophies. With this Rahman has now has joined the ranks of Pandit Ravi Shankar, Zakir Jussain, Vikku Vinayak and Vishvamohan Bhatt who have won a Grammy in the past.

Sung by Sukhvinder Singh, Tanvi Shah, Mahalaxmi Iyer, Vijay Prakash and Rahman, the song had become an international hit last year. Rahman’s rivals in the soundtrack category included Steve Jordan for ‘Cadillac Records,’ Quentin Tarantino for ‘Inglourious Basterds’, and the producers of ‘Twilight’ and ‘True Blood.’

In the best song category Rahman’s competition included international crooner Bruce Springsteen for his song ‘The Wrestler’, from the Oscar-nominated movie of the same name.

The story’s protagonist, Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), is a former Marine who was wounded in combat on Earth and paralyzed from the waist down. Since humans are unable to breathe the air on Pandora, they have created genetically-bred human-Navi hybrids known as “Avatars” . The Avatars are living, breathing bodies that are controlled by a human “driver” through a technology that links the driver’s mind to the Avatar body. On Pandora, through his Avatar body, Jake can walk . He is sent deep into Pandora’s jungles as a scout for the soldiers who will follow, and encounters many of Pandora’s beauties and dangers. He also meets a young Navi female, Neytiri, whose beauty is matched only by her ferocity in battle. Over time, Jake integrates himself into Neytiri’s clan, and begins to fall in love with her. As a result, Jake finds himself caught between the military-industrial forces of Earth, and the Navi, forcing him to choose sides in an epic battle that will decide the fate of an entire world.

Drew Barrymore and Ellen Page lock lips and pretend to have some sort of pseudo-lesbian relationship in the October issue of Marie Claire. Except what’s teased as a “curiously intimate chitchat” with the two only includes talk of backpacking through Romania and absolutely no mention of me wearing a bear costume and holding the camera. Lesbianism? I calculate not.

Tila Tequila let the paparazzi snap shots of her bruised arms and neck today which seem to prove that San Diego Charger Shawne Merriman did a little more than stop her from driving home drunk. This also explains why the DA’s office brought her in this afternoon and are reviewing the case, according to TMZ. So unless Shawne can prove Tila’s keys were hidden inside her leprechaun skin and he had to punch them out, he’s probably looking at charges and the official title of “Just Another Bitch like Chris Brown.”

In the meantime, Tila seems to be hinting on her Twitter page that her side of the story involves refusing Shawne’s request to bang his buddies which led to the midget tossing. Classy.

A woman who claims David Copperfield sexually assaulted and threatened her in 2007 has just sued him.

The woman — a 22-year-old fashion model — alleges the assault took place while she was a guest on his private island in the Bahamas back in 2007, this according to the lawsuit obtained by The Seattle Times.

The woman claims she met David during one of his shows back in January of 2007 — then got invited to his island in July. The suit says after watching a movie in David’s room, he attacked and sexually assaulted her, threatening to kill her if she didn’t go along.

The lawsuit alleges David kept at it, assaulting her two more times on the island. She reported the alleged assaults to Seattle police, who turned it over to the FBI.

Copperfield’s lawyers were blunt about the suit:

“This woman, who filed the lawsuit, has a history of lying … She has lied to law enforcement before and, as a result, had innocent people arrested based on a false accusation … she is incapable of telling the truth.

This lawsuit is extortion for money, plain and simple. Unfortunately, false claims like this only hurt the women who really have been abused, women who really need our help.”
